Dr. David Hicks

Sherman ISD

David Hicks is the Superintendent of Schools in Sherman ISD. Before moving to Sherman, he served as a leader in three nationally-recognized school districts, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Grapevine-Colleyville, and most recently in Denton, the second-fastest growing school district in North Texas.

Dr. Hicks enjoys living in Sherman because of the strong partnerships that continue to grow between the public school system, local business leaders, families and community volunteers. David and the entire Sherman ISD team share a deep commitment to educating each child through their vision to Build Bearcats in a Community of Excellence: Everyone. Everywhere. Everyway. As such, Sherman ISD continues to prioritize implementing innovative programs that nurture students and promote excellence in academics, arts and athletics.

Dr. Hicks earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Dallas, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas and a doctorate in educational leadership from UNT as well. He and his wife, Tammy, have two adult children. In their spare time and when the Bearcats are not playing, they love spending time with family, watching Texas Rangers games, and traveling.
